1955 IWC Ingenieur automatic, reference #666.
In 1955, IWC introduced their first model showcasing the name Ingenieur. The Ingenieur is about function and the name translates literally to "engineer." However, because it was produced for the civilian market, the Ingenieur was offered in a variety of relatively elegant dial styles, as well as in 18ct gold and steel cases. Today the timeless design of the watch puts it in the "classic" category and is testimony that its appeal has outlasted its long reign as the flagship of the IWC line to this day.
This particular example is from the year of release and displays a rare original black dial (the most common dial colors were silver or white with a milky, silverish tint). The dial and hands have a nice patina.
The IWC C.852 automatic movement has been serviced and comes with a two year warranty.
The 36.5mm stainless steel case has seem some action. There are small dents visible and the holes in the lugs for the strap are worn. However, we have given it a light polish and these issues aren't really noticeable when on the wrist.
Fitted to the watch is an aftermarket crown and black leather strap.
