NIVAROX Observatory Chronometer

A rare and well-preserved NIVAROX Observatory Competition chronometer.
The movement is based on the Longines cal. 260 chronograph movement, which was then modified by Nivarox for testing and Observatory Competitions.
To do this, Nivarox watchmakers used a special balance fitted with a Nivarox hairspring. They then removed from the movement everything that could affect on the accuracy including the original Longines chronograph gear. They even removed the time setting gears to reduce as much friction as possible. Once completed, the spent months making fine adjustments.

There are two handwritten Neuchatel competition documents from different years (it was entered twice) that accompany the watch.

Thomas Prescher provided a full mechanical service of this watch - nothing was done to the case, dial or competition box.

This particular watch is in its original testing box and comes in full running order.
