Originally founded in 1884 by Karl Elsener, Victorinox are the makers of the Original Swiss Army Knife! The company was originally known as Schweizerischer Messerschmiedverband, however Elsener rebranded his company in 1909 upon the death of his mother, "Victorinox" being a portmanteau of "Victoria" and "inox", an abbreviation for acier inoxydable, the French term for stainless steel.
